  1. The quotation is not strictly Aristotle, but is commentary on Aristotle from The Story of Philosophy: The Lives and Opinions of the World’s Greatest Philosophers by Will Durant (1926). The passage in question is on page 87 of the reprint on Google Books. Wikiquotes also flags it as mis-attributed.

    Not that it matters.

    2. That is *great* to know. The Durants had an impact on my parents’ generation and are now muddled together with the people they wrote about. I discovered this in looking for the source of “No one in a hurry is truly civilized.” (Durant.)
