My journey in Buddhism started when I was a child with my father’s interest in the philosophical concepts of the religion. I did not start any real meditation practise until I was into my 40’s and, after looking at and dipping into a couple of different traditions took Lay Precepts with the OBC in 1999. I have been studying with Rev Master Mugo for a few years now.
Life has been hectic, full, fun and at times, difficult and stressful! Work-wise I trained in Psychology, qualified as a Probation Officer and ended up working in a Category C Jail with high risk violent offenders. Ill-health meant medical retirement from such work and I now coach parents part-time for the charity, Parentline Plus. I am currently attempting to focus more on my creative side and love making things, especially sewing, knitting, felt-making and all things textile, fluffy and woolly.
I am the mum of twin girls aged 28, and after a few tries at making a go of marriage and relationships I am now happily married to Nigel who is also a practicing Buddhist. We live in Nottinghamshire with Lottie the greyhound.
