That In-Between-Time

Eden_Valley_with_Viaduct1.jpgEden Valley – April.

Between winter and spring
When neither snow falls
Nor one bird sings

Lancaster_by_the_river1.jpgBy the river with rubbish, Lancaster

Left alone
In a silent, bare
Land of eye and ear.

Honey_suckle1.jpgHoneysuckle after rain.

Still,
A sound
A sight
Rises
Unannounced
From the up-reaching, barren
Branched trees

Eye and Ear
Found full
Then back again
To the day
Between winter and spring.

And so it is
and so it has been.
These past couple of weeks
since leaving the Eden Valley
– and that rock in the stream!

Full to brimming.
And dull dark dripping days.
Gardening, sewing,
Eating and talking.
– and passing on a tradition.

What an honour.

Thanks for your patience while I deal with many matters. Thankfully I’ve a reliable Internet connection now so posting must surely resume.

Search For Meaning

I said it before
and I will say it again.

Oregon afternoon
eyes search/seeking for meaning in
sun? sky? tree? cloud? air? me?
and not for the first time either
of course.

What happened? What changed that day?

Black Forest morning walking
within
sun, sky, tree, cloud, air, me.
Not searching, nothing found
Well, OK then….

OK folks please do not run off with lots of ideas about what I have written here. Read at face value, let it go and get on with your day. Meaning comes and goes. Let it.

I have limited access to the Internet for the next couple of weeks, probably, so I am likely to post telegrams rather than letters.

Talking Into The Morning

Mt__Shasta01.jpeg
Mt. Shasta in evening light. I’ll be there in no time at all.

Nothing like a long talk,
Long into this morning
Early
We talked, and talked.

Now time to sleep
Then rise, sit and sing
Drive to the airport
And fly!

To Germany
To the Black Forest
To work in the garden
And fly back.

To pick up my visa
Because it’s ready.
Heard the news
…yesterday!

And lest I forget – Happy Buddha’s Birthday. I received my first card this morning, early in the morning. Thanks.
