Interesting how different oceans look. I was just near ours (the Gulf of Mexico). Still warm; still a half-dozen achingly blue hues against sugar-white sand. And then there’s your ocean. I can smell the salt just looking at it. It’s also beautiful, but in a very different way. Far more impressive.

My dad — an Englishman — used to say that the ocean is the measure of a man. There’s something to that, I think.
